Prenatal / Antenatal Yoga, Hypnobirthing, Postnatal Yoga offered in the Byfleet, Weybridge and Addlestone area in Surrey.

ANTENATAL  / PRENATAL YOGA: 1-2-1 SESSIONS

Yoga postures can be carefully adapted as well as breathing exercises to help promote fitness during pregnancy, both physically and emotionally as well as prepare you for birth.

You are always only ever to do what feels comfortable and right for you as everyone is different.

These simple exercises are shown and developed through Yoga Therapy or Antenantal sessions that you can then also practice at home during the different stages of your pregnancy.

The effortless exercises promote pelvic awareness and relaxation as well as a safe environment in which to explore your feelings and adapt to the changes in your body.

With training and understanding of pregancy anatomy and physiology, you are in safe hands

Yoga improves confidence and during pregnancy, this feeling of confidence is needed more than ever to feel insecure in the ability to give birth safely and with as much ease and clam as possible.

Yoga postures (asanas) provide more space for the baby and alleviate many pregnancy discomforts including PGP (Pelvic Girdle Pain), SPD (Synthesis Pubis Disorder) as well as encourage OFP (Optimal Foetal Positioning)

The appleyoga approach (in which I'm trained in) to Pre & Postnatal Yoga is an intelligent and grounded methodology that is easy to learn and empowers women at these keystone time of life to go deep into their practice with lightness and grace. It is biomechanically savvy, safe and grounded and features key actions for empowerment and freedom in the body, and is grounded in principles of sequencing that allow people to feel reset in every class.

Every session ends with emphasis on deep breathing and relaxation allowing the body to release tensions, the mind to become still and energy renewed for mother and baby . Session can be structured to any period during your pregnancy after 12 weeks, as long as you feel well, comfortable and have consulted your health practitioner and midwife first for full medical consultation.

ANTENATAL  / PRENATAL YOGA:  Classes

There are currently no specific Prenatal Group Classes at present.

Classes include Yoga asanas (postures), fluid movements to help with lubricating joints, relieve stiffness and OFP, breath techniques, pelvic floor work, relaxation and some weeks will will also do hypnobirthing relaxation.

You can join the Wednesday evening zoom yin yoga class 7pm which would also be okay if you have already been practicing yoga either with me or another teacher, as these are gentle and easy to modify for you, however they have not been designed with pregnancy in mind so caution must be taken and advice followed. For advice, please email me.

Women in full time employment are entitled to paid time off work to attend yoga classes, which are covered by the category ‘antenatal appointments and relaxation and parentcraft classes’.

POSTNATAL YOGA AND PILATES: 1-2-1 Sessions and classes

Now that you have had your baby, the last thing you probably want to think of right now is exercise of any kind, but does your shoulders, neck and back ache from bending forward to feed or lift baby ?

Tummy not quite as was? A weakened pelvic floor? Or just simply tired, stressed and exhausted and need a little bit of 'you' time back?

Post-pregnancy is the most important time for a woman to regain her physical and emotional strength as well as stamina and renewed energy and yoga postures (asanas) tailored to your postnatal needs through Yoga Therapy is the perfect way to get back in shape and feel rejuvenated or simple come along and join in a general yoga class and take it gently.

It takes 9 months for the body to change to develop the baby and it takes approximately 9 months for the body to change back so it's important during this time not to resume any high impact exercise such as running. Too many ladies go back to this kind of activity too quickly when the lower body hasnt healed properly and this can lead to prolapse and incontence in later life, as it's just too much pull on the internal organs at that time. Yoga is perfect to help gain strength and tone back in the body - inside and out.

These private sessions are for women who have already passed their 6-week check up with their doctors and it is open to anyone regardless of previous yoga experience. You would also be welcome to join in with certain classes so please enquire as to which would be suitable for you.

I currently dont run any postnatal classes, but please do enquire as the more enquiries I get, the more I understand the demand for them in the Weybridge / Chertsey area. It's lovely group environment for mothers to be togther and share their experience.  It's always advisable to check my timetable in case this page is out of date.

I teach and work under the appleyoga Code of Ethics for Pre & Postantal Yoga
